Advice post - How do I budget for Wedding Flowers?
Like any part of planning a wedding, working out how much to budget for wedding flowers can feel a little daunting. But that’s where my experience in styling and designing your wedding comes in. As I often tell couples, I’ve done this before, lots of times, so whether you’re looking for rustic wedding flowers for a barn wedding or tipi wedding, outdoor wedding flowers for a garden marquee wedding at your family home, classic wedding flowers for a stately home wedding, or urban wedding flowers for a warehouse wedding – I’ve got you!
As I’m sure you will know by now, weddings are my absolute passion. I design with you in mind and am constantly looking for the little personal details I can add or incorporate to create a point-of-difference and to style your wedding venue so that your wedding flowers and the overall look and feel are truly unforgettable and undeniably stand out from the crowd.
My seasonal approach means you get an ever-changing choice throughout the year and because of the level of creativity it takes to design something so uniquely yours, I restrict and limit the number of weddings I take each year. I work with an awesome team, but it’s always me who is the first point of contact, and I’m always here for you.
For those of you just starting on your wedding planning journey, here’s how to budget for your wedding flowers …
A tipi wedding
I find that tipi weddings are often at farms or venues which have a lot of land and maybe some lovely cottages which your guests can stay in. Many of our couples decide to get married at the local registry office beforehand and then have either a lovely outdoor ceremony of their own or choose to have a celebrant.
This provides me with the chance to look at your site and suggest creative and fun ways to decorate the space both inside and out. The majority of our couples will opt for long tables with minimal table decor and a striking top table design, along with hanging designs and maybe a statement outdoor installation or two.
Expect a starting budget of around £2,000-£3,000 for your tipi wedding flowers in Yorkshire & Derbyshire.
Marquee weddings and outdoor weddings in the family garden
I’ve found that marquee weddings and in particular, outdoor weddings in the family garden are really on the increase and can be exceptionally beautiful too. There are so many wonderful opportunities to decorate not only inside the wedding marquee itself but also with planning, and careful planting of the gardens themselves can create the most wonderful opportunities for gorgeous wedding styling and floral installations.
Expect to budget no less than £3,000 - £5,000 plus for your marquee wedding flowers for your outdoor wedding.
Venue wedding flowers
This is by far the most difficult to estimate and is why an initial consultation with me is so important.
Of course, budgets very much depend on what you’re looking for, the majority of our luxe weddings will include all the bridal flowers, centrepieces, chair or pew ends, floral installations of some description and feature large-scale hanging designs such as a flower bomb, moongate, flower arch, flower cloud, huge foliage hoop, and, my personal favourite (!), bespoke designs to create the atmosphere you’re looking for.
If you’re looking for memorable florals, that your guests will talk about over and over again, then I would recommend a starting budget of £3,000 for a 2024 venue wedding
