Getting the best from your wedding venue decoration and wedding venue styling

It’s that time of the year again when lots of couples are getting in touch to talk about their wedding flowers and wedding ideas. So we thought it would be timely to share with you our top tips for wedding venue decoration to make your day, your wedding flowers, and wedding venue styling as seamless as possible.

As you know, I was thrilled to launch my all-new styling services at the beginning of this year. Being your wedding designer means I effortlessly combine jaw-droppingly gorgeous seasonal blooms with outstanding wedding venue styling details to seamlessly create your vision and aesthetic - just the friendly support you’ll need when planning either an indoor or outdoor wedding.

And speaking of outdoor weddings, the current joys of weddings is that so many of our couples are choosing to hold their big day celebrating with a Yorkshire marquee wedding or a Yorkshire tipi wedding. And, we couldn’t be happier with this current trend! So here are our 5 top tips for wedding flowers and event styling ideas to help in your early wedding venue decoration planning.

  1. Showcase a statement hanging design

Yorkshire tipi weddings are absolutely one of our favourite outdoor weddings to design and the first of our 5 top tips for wedding venue decoration would be to showcase a hanging statement piece.

If you’re looking for a fun, infinitely flexible, and really relaxed, ambient space for you and your guests, then tipis might just be for you. Because of their height and shape, we would highly recommend you add a hanging design such a floral chandelier, a flower bomb or a super sized flower hoop. to your wedding venue decoration must-haves.

A large-scale floral installation will not only create a stunning and much talked about focal point in the space, but also helps to lower the height of the centre of the tipi ‘hats’, creating a cozy aesthetic.

Over the year’s we’ve had the pleasure of designing wedding flowers and wedding venue styling for many beautiful tipi weddings. So in our experience, we’d say size really does matter - when it comes to tipi weddings, its go big or go home!

2. Use colour effectively

We love the choice you get with marquee wedding decor. Marquees really do come in all shapes and sizes from the ultra-trendy sperry tent, to a metal framed clear span marquee, a traditional marquee, or a sailcloth tent with removable sides. The different designs will depend very much on the space you have in your garden or the land you are using for your outdoor wedding, along with the number of guests you intend to invite.

Whichever design you choose, our top tip is to consider that your marquee wedding reception, whilst light and bright, is a large expanse of white and, because of this, will really benefit from the introduction of colour and texture. So our second of 5 top tips for wedding venue decoration is to use colour effectively.

An excellent way to do this is to use the ‘king poles’ to good effect as they really do lend themselves to all kinds of wedding venue decoration. Whether from the ground up or from the top down, placed strategically, your wedding flowers and venue styling will feature in so many of your photographs from the day, especially the speeches!

3. Consider your seating plan

If you’ve decided on an indoor wedding in a venue such as a beautiful barn, remodelled mill, or like this, a gorgeous carriage house; our third top tip for wedding venue decoration would be to carefully consider your seating plan when putting together your wedding venue decor.

I know this probably sounds really obvious, but wedding flowers and wedding venue decor are only truly successful when they are not only aesthetically pleasing but are practical and they really work! Your table layout is an important starting point. Whether you are having round tables, a long-separate top table, or a continuous table layout like the one below, your flowers, table cloths, table runners, napkins - in fact, all those styling details which combine together to create something truly memorable - they all need to be harmonious.

Getting your table layout right can be tricky, which is why I now look after both my couples’ wedding flowers and their wedding venue styling, making sure everything gels just perfectly.

4. Welcome your guests with wedding signage

Wedding signage is so often overlooked when it comes to luxury wedding stationery. But it’s firmly on my list of 5 top tips for wedding venue decoration, as it plays a real part in welcoming guests and making them feel a part of your day by helping them effortlessly navigate your wedding venue.

A welcome sign does exactly what it says on the tin, while a table plan, table number, and place settings really do help guests find their place at the wedding breakfast and are an opportunity to get creative with your own bespoke logo and create lovely personal touch.

5. Seamless Styling

Whatever your vibe, whether stylish simplicity, rustic boho, or opulent splendour, our final top tip for wedding decoration is to blend seamless styling into your day.

Combining your wedding flowers with event styling from just one creative not only helps cut down on potential designs schemes that just don’t quite fit, but also saves value time and helps ease some of the pressure associated with Wedmin!

I’ll make sure everything marries (sorry not sorry!) perfectly with your wedding flowers and sets off your venue to its best advantage.
