Sheffield Wedding Venues - Coral and Sam’s Peddler Warehouse carnival-inspired wedding

An alternative wedding

Hello again everyone, today I’m super happy to bring you Coral and Sam’s incredible Peddler Warehouse wedding, one of the coolest Sheffield wedding venues. As part of our Wedding Venue Decoration series, we bring you bags of inspiration, wild and natural wedding flowers, and gorgeous ways in which to style your alternative wedding.

Filled with beautiful, bright, blooms, this fun Sheffield wedding brings you the perfect balance of large-scale statement designs and all the tiny personal details to create a truly memorable day.

Kelham Island, one the coolest areas for Sheffield wedding venues

Sheffield wedding venues - Peddler Warehouse

Coral and Sam’s wedding was in the heart of Kelham Island, as Peddler Warehouse is home to the locally renowned, Peddler Market. This post-industrial quarter is packed with bars, restaurants, and this most wonderful space. Full of possibilities - we relish the challenge of bringing in our eclectic collection of props, decor, and bespoke hire pieces which you can view here.

In our experience, these huge spaces are perfect for alternative weddings and come into their own, when they are broken down into zones. A large-scale floral installation such as the moongate chosen by Coral & Sam, placed at the end of the aisle can help to define an area and create a kind of visual full-stop. It’s also great that it can be moved and repurposed after the wedding ceremony too!

Our large-scale floral installations are designed to be flexible and can be moved from ceremony to reception

Wedding Venue Decoration - Single stem bud vases

Coral and Sam chose long guest tables, so we created bright and colourful wedding flowers using the prettiest of single-stem glass bud vases from our exclusive styling catalogue, filled with locally grown blooms. Seasonality is super important to us and providing flowers that have travelled the shortest distance possible, is a great way to provide ethical, eco-friendly wedding venue decoration.

All the personal details

As with so many stories this year and last, Covid played a part in Coral and Sam’s wedding. Sadly, Coral’s close friend and best woman (who made Coral’s beautiful veil) had to self-isolate at the very last minute and so wasn’t able to be at their carnival-inspired wedding in person.

So the couple arranged for her to be a part of the wedding virtually through the magic of their iPad. She was escorted down the aisle by one of the other bridesmaids and, ever willing to respond to a creative challenge, we made her an iPad and mic stand garland as a minim floral installation, instead of her bridesmaid’s bouquet.

When Coral said she wanted bright colours for her day, I asked ‘Summer bright or carnival bright?” …. carnival bright was her reply!

Too fabulous!

I do hope you’ve loved Coral and Sam’s beautiful, brightly coloured day. Peddler Warehouse has a special place in my heart and every wedding I’ve ever designed there has been so different from other Sheffield Wedding Venues, which just goes to show its versatility and how wedding venue decoration can play a big part in creating your alternative wedding.
