Our top five wedding flowers for a Spring Yorkshire wedding.

After a tough few months, everyone is so looking forward to slightly longer days, a little warmth, and Mother Nature waking up. So, as we head towards the Spring Equinox this weekend, I thought I’d bring you a little ray of sunshine in the shape of a post all about my top five wedding flowers in Spring. In this blog post, I’ll talk you through the best ways to use these seasonal blooms and their gorgeous colours too. So if you’re looking for wedding flowers inspiration, and you’re planning a Spring Yorkshire Wedding grab yourself five minutes of peace and lose yourself in so much pretty.

1. Blossom

This prettiest of branches looks incredible in a bride’s wedding bouquet to create a lovely wild, unstructured design or is equally lovely when used to create softness in large-scale designs such as a statement arch, hoop or a Moongate. Choose from apple blossom, cherry blossom or, super exotic magnolia blossom, these blooms definitely are worthy of being in my top five wedding flowers in Spring.

2. Tulips

Once worth more than any precious gemstone or metal, these super versatile beauties come in all shapes and sizes. I particularly love to work with the heritage versions such as parrot tulips, double tulips, peony tulips, or even these with gorgeous frilly edges. Tulips work really well in bouquets, arrangements, and especially buttonholes as they last well out of water. Available in just about every colour under the sun, they are my go-to wedding flowers for a Spring Yorkshire Wedding.

3. Hyacinths

The scent of these wedding flowers is one of the most evocative I know, it reminds me of my eldest daughter’s birthday as they are her favourite and I always used to turn up at the school gates with a bunch for her.

A little more tricky to work with, they particularly suit being in a vase as they are heavy and their slightly squishy stems don’t always support their beautiful full blooms. Being experienced comes in handy though, as you can see, they do work in bouquets too and they make the loveliest of hair flowers. Available in white, a range of blues and pinks and very occasionally, a soft, creamy, pale lemon colour and would look incredible in a vase at your Spring Yorkshire wedding.

4. Ranunculus

The perfect choice for those brides or couples who love peonies but are getting married in the Spring. These super romantic, whorly beauties come in lots of really gorgeous colours and can be absolutely huge too. The large rosette versions are available in soft pastel tones, which are simply gorgeous and the smaller version makes the cutest of buttonholes.

5. Anemone

The darkest version of this Spring wedding favourite is the deepest purple and has the most beautiful velvety texture, with a dark charcoal grey centre. Being the most recessive of colours, this flower really benefits from being surrounded by lighter, brighter blooms to ‘lift’ it - the perfect choice for dramatic, impactful designs, which all your guests won’t help but notice.

I hope you’ve enjoyed a little insight into my world of flowers and I’ve given you some wedding inspiration and food for thought with my top five wedding flowers in Spring.
