Nottingham wedding venue: Emily and Matt’s stylish Spring wedding flowers at Hazel Gap Barn

Hi everyone! We’re back with another journal as part of our ‘real wedding’ features. Stories of our gorgeous couples and how we played a part in their big day, combined with heaps of floral inspiration and ideas for your own wedding. Emily and Matt had their big day at Hazel Gap Barn, a stunning Nottingham wedding venue, and chose a natural wedding theme combined with Spring wedding flowers.

Hazel Gap Barn

Emily & Matt chose Hazel Gap Barn as their setting, located on the Welbeck Estate. This Nottingham wedding venue is a stunning red-brick barn surrounded by woodland and garden areas. The barn’s features are perfect for luxury weddings, with its elegant setting, bordered by watchtowers, creating a unique castle-like environment, adding grandeur to the heart of the countryside.

The rustic charm of the barn allows for a multitude of colour palettes and natural wedding themes. Emily and Matt decided on whites, creams, greens, and blues for their spring wedding flowers, with emphasis on the foliage to really accentuate the natural style and overall casual feeling for their big day.

Spring wedding flowers

Emily and Matt’s day was a beautiful and unique celebration of love, and Emily’s spring wedding flowers were the perfect accent to the day. She chose a very natural, casual look that brought the outside in with lush greens, whites, creams, powder blue, and plenty of greenery. The result was a gorgeous display that added to the special atmosphere of her natural wedding day.

Emily asked if we could somehow include yellow roses in her bouquet, despite them not being a part of her colour palette. Her Mum and Grandma had had them in their bouquets when they were married, so we carefully chose some teeny tiny lemon spray roses and popped just a few of them at the back of Emily’s bouquet, just for her to see.

We also made sure that her Mum and Grandma, had them specially designed into their buttonholes, to seamlessly link the three generations together.

When it comes to weddings, personal touches can make all the difference. This was certainly the case for Emily, it really is a beautiful way of honouring family traditions and making sure that special memories are recognised on such an important day.

Ceremony Flowers

Hazel Gap Barn had recently renovated their beautiful fireplace and so we made good use of this by designing a soft, loose, wild, and unstructured floral installation using choice foliage and gorgeous, stylish spring wedding flowers. We absolutely love playing with perspective in our ceremony flowers and designs in general, and so created an asymmetric design to frame the couple as they took their vows, softening the geometric nature of the fireplace.

We also created a soft, natural design along the front edge of the ceremony table too. Being huge fans of reusing our wedding flowers and designs at least twice, this was moved after the ceremony and repurposed to sit along the top table.

British Grown Flowers

If you follow us on our social media (and if you don’t then why not head over to our Instagram or Facebook page and give us a like), then you’ll know how we have always championed British grown flowers, ever since our very first photoshoot over 10 years ago.

Because the season for British grown flowers are a little weather dependent, availability in March can be tricky so we focussed on getting as much as we could from our Yorkshire and Cornwall flower farmers and managed to showcase gorgeous eco-friendly, sweet-smelling eucalyptus and the cutest muscari and hyacinths too. The anemone, ranunculus, thistles, and other soft, textural foliage we used came from further afield. Emily’s sweet little lemon coloured roses also came from warmer climes, but were grown by fair trade farmers.

Testimonial

We absolutely loved working to Emily colour palette and here is what she had to say about her wedding flowers:

“Tracey!

Where do I start?! We just wanted to send thanks from the bottom of our hearts for everything that you have done for us. You have been absolutely perfect in every way, there has been nothing that has been too difficult for you and your help has been incredible.

The flowers are unbelievable, there are no words to describe just how breathtaking the venue turned out. You had some amazing ideas that I wouldn't have even dreamed of, and took all the stress away from us as we planned our dream day.

You and your team are divine human beings, any bride and groom are lucky to have you!”

I hope you enjoyed reading about Emily and Matt’s spring wedding flowers. Hazel Gap Barn is a brilliant Nottingham wedding venue perfect for luxury weddings, and great to consider if you’re thinking about a natural wedding.

Every wedding we have the privilege of playing a part in, is always a unique and special occasion, and it's such a pleasure to be able to help couples bring their vision of the perfect day to life.

We understand that each couple has their own ideas for what their big day should look like, and we strive to make sure that every detail is taken care of so that they can enjoy the moment without worrying about anything else. We believe in creating a special atmosphere where everyone can relax, have fun, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
